Chronic Candidiasis

Candida albicans is a type of yeast that is found in the intestines and other parts of the body. When this yeast is at a balanced level it helps in bodily functions. However, in some situations candida albicans overproduce and this becomes a problem and causes Chronic Candidiasis. This overgrowth can be the result of many factors including:

  • Diets that contain large amounts of carbohydrates and processed sugar
  • Oral contraceptives
  • Excessive amounts of alcohol
  • Stressful lifestyle
  • Antibiotics
  • Diabetes
  • Prolonged use of NSAID pain relievers (e.g., ibuprofen)

Treatment
