What Causes Back Pain?
Back pain is one of the most common ailments Americans suffer from. The degree of pain can range from causing a temporary disruption in daily activities to a chronic ongoing condition.
Common Causes of Back Pain
Just as there is a range of pain associated with back problems, so too are the reasons that cause the problem in the first place. Common causes include:
- Injury: Back injury can result from any type of accident such as being involved in a car crash or while engaging in a recreational or any other physical activity.
- Stress: Stress causes a rise in both blood pressure and heart rate, which leads to a tightening of the muscles including those in the lower back which results in pain. The stress can be due to either emotional or physical origins.
- Overuse and Strain: Anything done in excess or improperly such as lifting without bending at the knees can result in back pain.
- Nerve related: Diseases and/or degenerative disorders such as osteoarthritis, spinal misalignments and conditions related to aging in which the spinal canal narrows are other factors that cause pain in the back.
